Praktikant/ Werkstudent (m/w/d) AI & ML – Data Engineer

Part-time (from approx. 16h/week) or full-time Internship
About the Position:

As part of Project NOVA (Next-gen Optimization with Visionary AI), we are seeking a motivated intern (m/f/d) in Data Engineering with an interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams and senior leadership to develop smart data-driven solutions that support our digital transformation in the energy sector. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute your ideas, learn from experts, and help shape the future of sustainable innovation.

Location: Trench Austria GmbH – Paschingerstraße 49, Leonding
Program: Project NOVA
Internship duration: 8 to 12 months
Start date: January 2026 or by arrangement

 

Your Tasks

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement AI/ML opportunities

  • Support the development and deployment of machine learning models

  • Analyze and process large datasets to generate valuable business insights

  • Document your development work and the results of your models

  • Present your findings to stakeholders using visualizations and reports

  • Assist in cleaning, structuring, and preparing data for analytics and business intelligence projects

  • Help develop and maintain data pipelines and workflows on Azure

  • Support various teams with data cleansing and organization

  • Continuously expand your knowledge in AI, ML, and data engineering

Your Profile

  • Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, AI/ML, or a related field
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of machine learning algorithms and methods
  • Interest in business intelligence tools and data transformation
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or Java
  • Familiarity with AI/ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Pinecone)
  • Communication and presentation abilities
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
  • Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone) is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database) is a plus
